The 2022 Africa Women Cup Of Nations(AWCON) Qualifiers which were slated for June 7th to 15th 2021 have been postponed. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) sent out letters to member states announcing the adjustment.
The postponement is due to the restrictions in some countries as a result of COVID-19 outbreak. Poor conditions of some stadiums on the continent was also been cited.
In line with the adjustment, the first round will take place during the FIFA window of 18-26 October 2921.
The second round will then take place between 14th and 23rd February 2022.
Uganda was drawn against Ethiopia in the 1st round of the qualifiers with the aim to feature in the finals to be hosted by Morocco who qualified by default as a host nation.
The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Ethiopia will play either Kenya or South Sudan in the second round of the Total Women African Cup of Nations scheduled between 14th and 23rd February 2021.
12 teams will take part in the finals of the 12th Edition of the AWCON.
