£6.4 million pumped into global women’s rugby game

World Rugby chairman launched new strategies and models to boost women’s rugby globally. The competition will be annual starting in 2023. It’s called WXV and the World Rugby Union has made an initial investment of £6.4 million for the first two years and a new dedicated Women in Rugby commercial program. 

The competition will be a three tier 16 nations league. Hosted within September to October of the new international window. 

Uganda will qualify through the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup played annually in Africa. 

Teams will qualify depending on their finishing positions within their respective existing annual regional competitions.
