FUFA officially announced the termination of Irishman, Johnathan Mckinstry of the Uganda Cranes. The announcement had been a long time coming after he was indefinitely suspended in March over unknown reasons. Ug Sports brings you his performance since 2019 after he took over as head coach.

His most notable achievement is winning Uganda’s record CECAFA title (15th) within three months of his appointment. In this tournament, Uganda scored 14 goals and conceded only 2 and also won all the games they played.

He had a 67% win rate during his tenure across 18 games. Statistically he won two out of three games on average every time he led Uganda Cranes out. This is broken down to 12 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses.

Before COVID-19 disrupted life as we knew it, the Uganda Cranes under his stewardship were on top of their group in the AFCON qualifiers after drawing against Burkina Faso away and defeating Malawi 2-0 at home. They lost this advantage when the qualifiers resumed, while he was not in charge.

We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
