Asubo Gafford Ladies FC was in group A of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League where they failed to qualify for the knock-out stages after finishing at the bottom of the table with only 2 points.
Here is the Club statement after the poor performance;
For another time we (Asubo-Gafford Ladies) have failed to perform to our expectations and that of Women football lovers in and outside Uganda
It’s true every team has a challenge, but you can only see or think about it when the results fail to come. I agree that we have challenges both internal and external, like any other club.
I believe the management will look into them and solve those problems they can, that will be after having a complete report of the tournament, reports from technical team, players and administration.
To those who have watched or followed this group, we have Been a side that created most goal scoring chances, unfortunately they were not utilized, I believe the technical team shall work on our finishing.
Maybe in one way or the other we were unlucky in this tournament.
But again in good faith, I request FUFA to press her referees to the dot to up their performance. Women Football is like a pit, whichever coin you put in, it’s very hard to get back so let’s mind much about the money these passionate pipo put in.
We have been complaining about the poor performance of referees and many termed me as ‘Omulwanyi’ but the good thing is that the games have been on camera, and we saw the referees’ performance.
Asubo-Gafford is a real football Club, even if it goes back to region or non-league, they will continue giving chances to girls to play the beautiful game.
We shall keep our heads up, it’s not all about how many times you fall but how many times you can get up and stand.
Of course we have been given many chances to say anything and to have fun about Asubo but I believe that is football and that’s what makes this game beautiful. I am against none, let’s enjoy the game.
