Having taken two good months without playing, both teams returned to action in an anticipated rivalry game at Lugogo cricket oval.

Challengers won the toss and decided to bat first against Aziz Damani cricket club but failed to overcome the tight bowling from Aziz Damani as they posted a small score.

Challengers had a slow start struggling to score runs as they lost the opening pair of Wasim Butt and Emmanuel Hasahya who only contributed 11 runs in total from both of them.

There was a small recovery from Challengers with Perry Wazombe and Morris Ouma leading as each registered 24 runs off 17 balls and 20 runs off 23 balls respectively, but once the pair was lost, only Suleman Sharif (20 runs off 22 balls) gave a little push helping the team post 129/10 in 31.5 overs

In the chase, rain interrupted the second innings of the game with Aziz Damani being on 66/4 and basing on D/L method, Aziz Damani registered a 5 wicket win over Challengers cricket club.

The result means, Challengers cricket club stays on top of the table with 10 points from 7 games while Aziz Damani cricket club moves to fourth place with 6 points from four games.

Aziz Damani cricket club will be playing struggling Kutchi Tigers on Sunday 11th September 2022 at Lugogo cricket oval in a must win game for them while Challengers will have no fixture that weekend.
