Uganda 81/4 in 11.3 overs
Uganda won by 6 wickets
The four nation T20 Women’s Cup came to an end yesterday when Uganda went past Kenya to register victory against rivals.
Kenya won the toss and opted to bat first against Uganda but failed to put up a good score that they could defend with ease.
Victoria Pearls’ bowlers came top with commanding stats making Kenya fail to form any good partnerships on the crease.
Daisy Njoroge and Mary Mwangi stood out for Kenya during their innings as each posted 21 runs off 17 balls and 13 runs off 20 balls respectively but lucked someone who could recreate their performance.
Evelyn Anyipo and Consy Aweko ensured there were no solid partnerships formed as each registered figures of 3/12 and 2/11 respectively to help Uganda limit Kenya to a total score of 80/10 in 18.2 overs.
Despite Kevin Awino falling in the second over, Proscovia Alako and Esther Iloku ensured a fresh start to the chase that saw each post 30 runs off 13 balls and 10 runs off 21 balls respectively to give Uganda a much needed start.
Stephani Nampina and Immaculate Nakisuyi was the pair that led Uganda to victory as they batted not out with 14 runs off 11 balls and 18 runs off 13 balls respectively with 51 balls to spare.
It must be a great feeling for Uganda to finally win a trophy in 2022, a year that has seen then with many ups and downs as they rebuild their squad.
