Black Diamonds 12 : 05 Lady Swans
Blue Whales 41 : 00 Ewes
Lady Swans 19 : 05 Ewes
The likes of Black Diamonds, Lady Swans, and Ewes were no match for the tide of the Blue Whales as they swept past all of them to top Tier 2 on the first day of the Central region games in the URU Women’s 10-a-side tournament.
The Blue Whales will fancy their chances of continuing to put up table topping performances when the tier resumes games next weekend. Their defense line was only breeched on the whole weekend when they conceded a try against the Black Diamonds.
The Ewes on the other hand lost all games and will be heading back to the drawing board for a new plan that can improve their performances as they head into more games as the tournament rages on.
The leader of the tier will be rewarded with among other things the opportunity to be the other representative of the Central region in the national knock out competition that will see a national women’s champion crowned.
The central region has two tiers of teams owing to its density with a number of well established women’s rugby clubs. The region’s Tier 1 comprises the big birds of Ugandan women’s club rugby with the likes of the Thunderbirds, the Black Pearls, and the Avengers.
Tier 1 also played their first round of games in the tournament with the Black Pearls putting out a clearly table toping performance.
Let us see next weekend which of the Black Diamonds, Lady Swans, or Ewes will continue moving on even when the tide of the Blue Whales is high.
