After receiving good news from the FUFA Deputy CEO, Decolas Kiiza confirming their eligibility to begin hosting games in Masindi, Kitara FC must have been on cloud nine.
The welcome news came in just before the start of the Easter holidays. The Masindi based Kitara FC were as delighted as Kyetume FC which also received similar news. Kyetume FC also will start hosting home games in Nakisunga, Mukono district.
Good news aside, Good Friday also came with a task. Kitara FC hosted Bright Stars FC in match day 16 of the Uganda Premier League. They came into this game hoping to give their fans additional good news with a win against the visitors.
But it was not to be. Samuel Ssekamatte of Bright Stars FC scored in the 17th minute to give the visitors an early advantage. The home team continued to ask questions and tried to level matters before halftime, but luck really wasn’t on their side.
Things even got worse for Kitara FC before the closure of the first half. Joseph Marvin scored in the extra one minute added to the first half to make it 0 : 2 in favor of the away team.
With the home team looking to change their fate, they started the second half pressing more to get a goal. Their effort paid off in the 63rd minutes when Denis Monday pulled one back from the penalty spot to make it 1 : 2.
But Smauel Ssekamatte wasn’t done yet for the evening. He scored to complete his brace in the 75th minute.
Full time found the score at 1 : 3 in favor of the away team, who moved to 9th position on the log.
Kitara FC on the other hand remained rooted to the bottom of the table 5 points after 16 games played.
