Busoga United hosted Wakiso Giants today at the FUFA Technical Centre (Njeru), looking to continue their impressive form in their last 3 games this season. With Busoga United plotting to get themselves safe from the relegation fight this season, they started the first period a much stronger side compared to the visitors from Wakiso.
And after only 16 minutes played, Sharif Kimbowa scored to put his team ahead with everything still left to play for in the first half. But with Wakiso Giants looking tired from their recent Uganda Cup actions, they failed to get an equalizer and the first half ended 1-0 in favor of the Busoga boys.
After halftime break, the two teams started to go at each other, but this time with Busoga United doing more of the defending as they tried to hold on to their 1:0 advantage gained in the first period. In the 77th minute Hassan Waswa was shown a red card, and Wakiso Giants were reduced to 10 men in the game. But when it was looking all done and dusted for Busoga United, Rodger Omedwa scored the goal that levelled the game 1-1 in the 83rd minute.And with only 7 minutes left on the clock until the end of the second half, Wakiso Giants Only needed to keep the ball away from their final third to keep the match at 1-1 going into Full time. This draw puts Wakiso Giants in the 9th position on 27 points and consequently for Busoga United this means they now occupy the 13th on the table, hanging by a thread in the relegation barline.
