Cash strapped National Council of Sports to receive no increments in the upcoming budget

With international activities fast approaching, the council cannot wait to receive the money on its budget. 

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games are some of the activities that require quick attention.

Budget strain 

The NCS has been receiving Shs18b is the amount the council has been receiving. That amount will not increase in the next financial year as the federation continues to struggle financially.

The next financial year starts in a month. The National Council of Sports General Secretary there will be no additional increment on the threshold of funding for the sector. 

This was during the NCS board and secretariat retreat in Nsambya to update on the projections of the council for the next five years. 

He also added that the federation is trying to find off-budget funding from sponsors and also force a supplementary budget to increase their funding. 

Immediate solution 

The immediate solution would be to prioritize activities. On the Council’s to-do list is the rehabilitation of sports facilities, football funding Rugby and other sports development. 

However, as it has been in order, the council will now continue to put funding for football, netball, basketball, rugby, athletics, boxing.
