When the 2023 Uganda Rugby Premier League begins later this month, Heathens will face Pirates to begin defending their championship.

The Uganda Rugby Union has announced the schedule for the season, which will begin on January 14 at various locations.

Heathens finished the previous campaign unblemished with 87 points after defeating former champion KOBs 22-10.

On the penultimate matchday, they still had a game to win the league.

KOBs settled for third place with 72 points, while Pirates concluded the season in second position with 77 points.

Warriors, who had just one victory in 18 games, were demoted to the second tier after placing last among the 10 teams!

This season’s newcomers, Walukuba, will play KOBs at Legends.

Before the season’s grand finale on May 13, the first round will finish on March 8 and the second round will begin on March 11.

Buffaloes vs. Heathens in a Kyadondo derby on January 21 is one of the tantalizing matchups to keep an eye out for.

The Busoga Derby between Walukuba and Hippos will also take place in Match Week 7.
