In a retreat that was held from 22nd – 25th April 2021, organized by the CAF Safety and Security Department under the theme line “Promoting Sport Safety and Security in Africa”. Uganda’s Dixon Adol Okello was named the most outstanding CAF Safety and Security officer during a retreat in Douala, Cameroon

Okello was recognized with a special award during the first ever retreat for CAF Safety and Security Officers for being one of the most devoted and hardworking security officers during an assignment by CAF and Federation of International Football Association (FIFA). Okello after receiving the award, was quoted saying “I thank God for this big achievement. It is humbling to win such an award, the first of its kind by CAF. I am very happy because this award not only motivates me as a person, but also, the other officers duly lined up to serve and those yet to come up.

The man is also well known for his program to train stadium stewards and match officers in Uganda, something conceived by many as a non-selfish act aimed at ensuring continuity of such services even beyond his retirement.

Okello and his other colleagues are expected to fly back into the country by Wednesday, 28th April 2021.
