Latest from Egypt indicates that all time national team top goal scorer Emmanuel Okwi is set to retire from the national team football. Sources next to the striker indicate that Okwi is likely to become the 4th player within a space of one week to retire from the national team after captain Denis Onyango and Mike Azira followed Hassan Wasswa in retirement.

The latest blow comes after earlier this week FUFA presidential candidate Allan Ssewanyana said that it is likely that 7 more senior players were to follow Hassan Wasswa and Denis Onyango in retirement.

The senior players seem to come in solidarity against what they claim lack of respect and appreciation for the services they have rendered to the national team following FUFA president Moses Magogo’s reckless claims that the CHAN team played shity football.

Okwi 28, was an instrumental figure in the Cranes’ recent successes where he spearheaded the national team to two consecutive AFCON appearances. He has played for the national team 82 times while scoring 26 goals in total. He made his debut for the national team in 2009.
