Kyetume Football Club today hosted 3rd placed team Express FC in the gameweek 23 of the Uganda Premier League at Nakisunga Saaza Ground (Mukono). The home team, desperate to move out of the relegation zone this season started the game looking the better side, and in only under 5 minutes when Ezera Kaye scored to put his team ahead. The Red Eagles, provoked by the early goal they conceded in the game, turned the table around and in the 17th minute, the hero of the Day Eric Kambale scored the equalizing goal to make it 1:1 going into half time break.

After the half time break, the second period started with Express FC looking more sharp than the home team in all aspects at  Nakisunga Saaza Ground. And it took them only 15 minutes to go 2:1 up thanks to Eric Kambale’s goal again in the 61st minute. With the home team still looking disoriented after conceding the second goal, they failed to regroup themselves  quickly and this cost them another goal, after Eric Kambale struck again to complete his hattrick for the day.

Playing catch up after going 3:1 down, Kyetume FC struggled to find another consolation goal to help them stage a comeback in the game, but the Red Eagles resiliently frustrated the home team in all their attempts. They could only score the goal they needed most early in the second half in the 3 additional minutes added through Bida Ezra.

The Red Eagles have now moved to within only 2 points of the UPL table leaders URA who drew today 1:1 away to Vipers Football Club. They now sit at number three in the league with 49 points. Kyetume FC still occupies one of the 3 relegation places at the bottom of the table with 20 points after 23 games played this season.
