Express FC came into the match on 25 points, 2 behind Vipers. Getting a win would see them spend Friday night at the top of the table. And a win they got.
Busoga United was confident coming into the match having won their last two matches against Express and having lost only once in their last 5 meetings.
However the on-form Express would not be deterred having drawn only once and won four of their last 5 matches in all competitions.
The only goal of the match came in the 24th minute when Express number 9, Kalanda Frank coolly converted a penalty after a foul in the box by a Busoga United defender.
There was not much to separate the two teams with Express taking most of the possession without threatening their opponent.
There was little action in the second half as the only duty the referee had to do was to yellow card Express FC’s Kambale Eric in the 81st minute.
This win means Express go top of the table leaving Busoga on 5 points just two points above Myda in the relegation zone.
