Maroons FC scored a last minute goal to deny Express FC’s hunger for maximum points in the 2022/2023 UPL campaign.

The clash at Luzira went to the wire as both sides had goal scoring chances from the start of the encounter.

Allan Kayiwa served sauce in the game and came close to score with a header over the bar in the third minute of the game.

Hassan Mubiru, who also made the first start this season had an opportunity to put one past Simon Tamale, but the effort was thwarted and later, striker Anwaru Ntege also failed to convert with a wide deflected header.

In the 90th minute, Ivan Mayanja headed one past the Maroons FC keeper in the bottom low right corner.

Maroons FC was playing at home, kept pushing despite Express FC enjoying mammoth possession in most of the game.

Fred Amaku, who was joint top scorer scored a last minute equaliser in the 94th minute to grab his seventh goal and also rescue a point for the prison warders.

The draw means Express FC has failed to pick maximum points in five games, a record that is not very impressive for a big club like Express FC.

Maroons FC sits right behind Express FC on the log with 15 points and a negative goal difference.

The first half of the season is close and Express FC will face Blacks Power FC at Wankulukuku next week on Wednesday 21st December next week while Maroons FC faces BUL FC.
