The chairman of Arua Hill SC, Eng. Joel A’ita Jaffer, has invited the president of Liberia and former FIFA world player of the year George Weah to the grand opening ceremony of the Arua Hill stadium which is set to be completed in December of this year.

Construction of the Arua Hill stadium commenced in July 2019 but due to the Covid 19 pandemic, there were delays in construction. Construction of the stadium is under supervision of Development Infrastructure, a sister company to Joadah consult.

The announcement was made during Eng. Joel A’ta’s business visit of Liberia on invitation by Liberia’s vice president Honourable Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor as a guest for an investment exploration.

“I invited her (Dr. Jewel) and H.E George Weah to come during the unveiling of the stadium and watch Arua Hill play live.” Said Eng.Joel.

George Weah last visited Uganda in June of 2013 in the 2014 FIFA world cup zonal qualifier where the Liberian legend came as the leader of the 35-man Liberian delegation. In 1999, He had a chance to play football on Ugandan soil but the odds were not on his side as a heavy traffic flow in which he claims was intentionally created barred him from arriving the pitch in time and in the end, Liberia lost 1-0 to the Cranes thanks to Phillip Ssozi’s 87th minute strike.
