Sunday 13th June will be the final game day for a very eventful FUFA Big League. At 4:00 pm all games will have to kick off. And they will be the last for the season.

At least that will mark the completion of another sports showcase this season. The COVID-19 pandemic has been a real challenge for sports events this season, but on a positive note FUFA will record a tick on the FUFA Big League in addition to the already concluded FUFA Women Super League and the FUFA Women Elite League.

With the FUFA Uganda Premier League with 4 game days to go and FUFA Uganda Cup yet to commence the semi-final stage, the football governing body is keen to close the chapter on the FUFA Big League this season. An an usual season as only 2 rounds instead of the usual 3 rounds of the two group league were played. The FUFA Competition Committee also announced their decision to not relegate bottom teams at the end of season. This was done as the lower tier FUFA Regional Leagues could not take place due to logistical challenges of ensuring COVID-19 SOPs for the games.

Lets look at fixture of game day 14 and where the big battles could be:

Calvary FC vs Gadafi FC (4:00 pm at the Green Light Stadium)

A football miracle could see Gadafi FC pip Arua Hill FC for top spot in the Elgon Group. Arua Hill FC is at the helm of the group with a 3 point cushion, but if they lose their game against bottom Paidha Black Angels FC by a huge goal margin and Gadafi FC beat Calvary FC in Arua by a large enough goal margin: then a football miracle will see Gadafi FC gain automatic promotion to the FUFA Uganda Premier League. Gadafi FC will sure take their chances to try and avoid the promotion playoffs. This promises to be a high scoring game.

Maroons FC vs Black Power FC (4:00 pm at the Luzira Prison Grounds)

Mbale Heroes FC vs Kataka FC (4:00 pm at the Mbale Municipal Grounds)

Arua Hills SC vs Paidha Black Angels (4:00 pm at Baifra Grounds, Arua)

Arua Hills SC are on top of the Elgon group with a 3 points cushion and a comfortable goal difference. They however need to show up with the kind of form that has seen them not lose a single game so far this season in the league. A win or a draw will see them automatically qualify for promotion to the FUFA Uganda Premier League. Paidha Black Angels are at the bottom of their group and should not be so difficult playing away in Arua.

Tooro United FC vs Kigezi Homeboyz FC (4:00 pm at the Wankulukuku Stadium)

Tooro United FC are 2 points clear of 2nd placed Proline FC in the Rwenzori group. Their goal difference of 8 is not so comforting either. So they may be feeling quite the amount of pressure going into the final game day. They surely must collect a win against the team from Kigezi to secure automatic promotion to the FUFA Uganda Premier League. Otherwise, Proline FC may lurk in the sidelines with a good result against Water FC and take the meat straight out of the mouth of Tooro United FC. This promises to be an interesting game to watch.

Luweero United FC vs Ndejje University FC (4:00 pm the Kosovo Grounds, Kasana)

Nyamityobora FC vs Terrazo and Tiles FC (4:00 pm at the Kakyeka Stadium)

Proline FC vs Water FC (4:00 pm at the MTN Omondi Stadium)

Proline FC is clearly a club with big ambitions. They take on Water FC in the final game they wish to play this season. Having been knocked out at the quarter finals of the FUFA Uganda Cup by BUL FC, an automatic promotion to the FUFA Uganda Premier League will come as a much desired achievement this season. And they have this one game to pull it off by beating Water FC. One final game it will be this season to give them something to celebrate at the end of the league if they win and Tooro FC do not collect maximum points in their simultaneous fixture. They will pray and play hard for it. This will be an interesting game to watch.

ugsports.net will keep you updated on all these and much more on the final game day of the FUFA Big League.
