In the Rwenzori Group, a couple of matches were played yesterday with the most eye-catching ones being the tie between Tooro United vs Luweero United, and Proline FC vs Ndejje University. The duo of Tooro United and Proline FC are going toe to toe with each other in regards to sealing a direct promotion to the Uganda Premier League next season.
Tooro United had the best opportunity to make it through to the Uganda Premier League directly yesterday but the Ankole Lions were pegged back by resilient Luweero United who held them to a goalless draw on match day 13 at Mutesa II Stadium Wankulukuku. It was very unfortunate for them as the draw did invite Proline FC who had a 3:2 win at Ndejje University to narrow the point difference between them and Rwenzori group leaders Tooro United to only 1 point from the initial 4 points.
This means that for Tooro United to secure a direct promotion for next year’s Uganda Premier League season, they need to win their last game against Ndejje University if they were to avoid Proline FC from leapfrogging them to the top and qualify directly without needing a play off.
Other results in the Rwenzori group, includes among others the following
Ndejje University 2: 3 Proline FC
Kigezi HomeBoyz FC 3:0 Terrazzo and Tiles FC
Water FC 3:2 Nyamityobora FC
Tooro United FC 0:0 Luweero United FC
