Khalid Aucho, a midfielder for the Uganda Cranes, has extended his contract with Young Africans Football Club (Yanga SC) in Tanzania into the next season.

He shared the news online with a photo posing with his shirt and the caption: “To my yanga fans, you still got me until 2024. Allah 1st.”

Denis Onyango, a former Cranes goalkeeper and captain, as well as midfielder Farouk Miya and his supporters, sent their congratulations to Aucho.

After his three-year deal with Misr El Makkasa in Egypt expired at the end of the 2020–21 Egyptian Premier League season, Aucho signed with Yanga SC as a free agent in 2021.

In 2013, he made his Uganda Cranes debut against Rwanda at the Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya as part of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

After his three-year deal with Misr El Makkasa in Egypt expired at the end of the 2020–21 Egyptian Premier League season, Aucho signed with Yanga SC as a free agent in 2021.

The 29-year-old has a strong resume, having played locally for Jinja Hippos and Water FC. Churchill Brothers in India, Tusker FC and Gor Mahia in Kenya, Red Star Belgrade and OFK Beograd in Serbia, and both Tusker FC and Gor Mahia.

He gained notoriety in March 2021 when he declined to get in the vehicle that FUFA had arranged to pick him up from Entebbe International Airport and take him to the team camp in Kisaasi, Kampala.

In response, Aucho was kicked from the national team for violating the team’s behavior policy until August 2022, when he was reinstated in time for the World Cup qualifying matches.
