FT: Vision WFC 0-1 Ajax Queens FC
Venue: FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
Ajax Queens Bulega registered their first win in the ongoing FUFA Women Elite League after overcoming Vision WFC today at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
After suffering defeat in their opening game against Amuria High School WFC, Ajax Queens had no option but to fight until the final whistle for a win to revive their hopes of qualifying to the knock-out stages.
Maraget Nalubega scored the lone goal of the game, coming as early as the 8th minute and this determined the final score at the end of the 90 minutes.
The striker capitalised on poor defending by Vision WFC and her feeble effort deflected off defender Recho Aciro past goalkeeper Irene Alum into the back of the net.
Alumu failed to save and instead pushed the ball into her own net to give Ajax Queens an early lead.
Ajax Queens had chances to double the lead through Annet Namwenge and Carol Nakyanzi but they were unlucky with their shots being saved.
Vision WFC came back stronger for the second half with several attempts especially through skipper Farida Oyella but they yielded nothing.
Sharon Akullo was sent off the pitch for a second booking in the 86th minute and the Kitgum based side were reduced to 10 players.
Ajax Queens will play their last group game against St. Peters WFC on Sunday while Vision WFC will take on Amuria High School.
