FT: King of Kings WFC 0-2 Bunyaruguru Girls FC

Venue: FUFA Technical Centre Njeru

The first quarter final game of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League was a derby between the Fort Portal based King of Kings WFC and Rubirizi based side Bunyaruguru Girls FC.

This was the first time King of King WFC lost a game against Bunyaruguru Girls FC in all competitions.

The first chance of the game went to Bunyaruguru Girls with Bridget Mbambu’s attempt which goalkeeper Diana Kebirungi comfortably saved.

Esther Naimana also came close to a goal in the 11th minute but her long range effort was punched away by goalkeeper Diana Kebirungi.

First yellow card of the game went to Alupo Norah of Bunyaruguru Girls FC for a foul.

In the 39th minute King of Kings were reduced to ten players when Florence Kaheru picked a second yellow card for bringing down Halima Katushabe who was racing into the box from the left wing.

In the 41st minute Norah Alupo scored from the direct freekick which resulted from Kaheru Florence’s foul. Goalkeeper Diana Kebirungi tried to save the ball but it was too high for her.

At half time break Norah Alupo’s well carried freekick was the difference between the two teams.

Bunyaruguru Girls FC looked a better side even before the red card incident which enabled them to keep away Sharon Kanyiginya and Evelyne Katusiime who had proved to be dangerous in front of the goal.

Norah Alupo received a beautiful through pass in the right wing from Juliet Negwon and beat the goalkeeper by looping the ball in the left far corner to seal the win with a brace in the 63rd minute giving Bunyaruguru WFC a double lead with a 2-0 score.

Bunyaruguru Girls FC is now the first team to qualify to the Semi-finals of this year’s FUFA Women Elite League.
