FUFA Women Elite League; Rines SS WFC secure their slot in the quarter final after a narrow win against Kataka SHE FC in the last game of group B

The game was played today morning at the FUFA Technical Centre group B  teams Rines SS WFC and Kataka SHE FC both teams came into the game looking for 3 points to secure their quarter final slots.

Rines SS WFC was leading the group with 6 points and 3 goals while Kataka SHE was behind them with 3 points and 1 goal so a win for Kataka could have put them level on 6 points and the goal difference could decide the quarter finalist with chances for both teams to make it at the same time basing on the results from the game between Bunyaruguru Girls FC and Town View SS WFC played later in the day.

Both teams started with a high potential for winning but the game remained goalless until the 22nd minute when Catherine Namataka fouled Betty Nakubulwa in the 18-yard area and the referee made no mistake and awarded Rines SS WFC a spot kick. Shakira Nalule successfully converted the penalty to give her team a first half lead.

In the 35th minute Maureen Nankinga had a chance to double the lead for Rines SS but her attempted lob over goalkeeper Patience Nambuya was off target.

At halftime Shakirah Nalule’s penalty was the difference between the two teams.

Rines SS WFC came back for the second half stronger and they had to hold onto the game until the final whistle to secure their slot in the quarter finals.

Rines SS WFC starting XI;  18-Najjemba, 7-Wujja, 3-Kaudha, 4-Nankya, 15-Aloyo, 6-Nantume, 13-Nababi, 14-Nalule, 17-Nakubukubulwa, 16-Nankinga, 11-Kayesu.

Substitutes: Kwagala, Gimbo, Nagayi, Nakalule, Iraacha.

Kataka SHE FC Starting XI: 22-Nambuya, 6-Nabonyo, 13-Namataka, 5-Nagudi, 12-Nambozo, 4-Nambafu, 10-Nabugwere, 14-Nandege, 16-Welima, 17-Adokole, 9-Namataka.

Substitutes: Nandutu, Kainza, Natooro, Kakai, Tamisi, Nabuduwa

Rhines SS WFC are now leading the table with 9 points and 4 goals from the 3 games while Kataka SHE still second placed with 3 points and 0 goals from the 3 games similar to Bunyaruguru Girls FC but who still have a game in hand.
