This is the fourth in the series. And what we bring you is the fun and facts about Busoga United. 

They hosted the opener to the second half of the season. So UG sports took a trip to their home tuff, the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru to watch them play against Onduparaka. 

Here is what we found out about your club that is in the UPL.

Did you know?

Busoga United Football Club, previously known as Kirinya Jinja SSS is a football team from the City of Jinja. So it shares a home with yet another great inspiration: The Source of the Nile.

The club was formed by the mechanics of Kirinya Road in Jinja town. 

It was later bought and taken over by the headmistress of Jinja Senior Secondary School to help promote football among the schools’ students.

First name change: That is when it got its second name Kirinya Jinja SSS and one of its co-founders Diana Hope Nyago was the main brain behind its success in 2012.

The club chief executive is Ahmed Kongola.

The club attained promotion to the Uganda Premier League in the 2013/2014 season. The team coach at the time was Coached Ayiekoh Lukula.

In July 2017, the team selected a new technical team to lead them in the next two seasons until July 2019. 

Second name change: In 2019, the club changed name to Busoga United FC to gain popularity and more fans based in the Busoga region.

And some very recent piece of history today: Busoga United beat Onduparaka 2 : 0 to register their fourth win of the 2020/2021 season, right in front of UG sports field teams.
