Futsal Association of Uganda releases statement on adjustment of their competitions calendar for the season

After the state of the nation address by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa on the state of our country’s progress with the second wave of COVID-19, the Futsal Association of Uganda, released a statement on 7th June  2021 on the changes brought to their FAU calendar for this year Futsal Super League.

The Futsal Super League regular season was going on at the Old Kampala Sports Arena, before  the second wave of COVID-19 intensified. All sporting activities were left to continue but with strict guidelines to protect the players

A statement on the sports website issued by FAU Competitions Officer, Abubaker Mayanja Kakule in part read, “ Due to uncertainty of time, a decision has been reached to complete the Futsal Super League before playing the Uganda Cup Tournament contrary to the FAU competitions calendar earlier circulated.”

In the original plan, the semifinal games were to be played on a knockout basis with the winner advancing to the final, and the losers in the respective classification playing on the final day for final league positions. Both the semifinals and final day shall have four games as the previous match days.

On the new calendar, the classification of the matches below will be played and the schedule has been reset by backdating the matches and not as originally stated before.

Classifications Matches under this new calendar

Lake George Semifinals

Synergy FC V Big Talent SA

Mengo FC V Park FC

This is to classify positional ranking 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th

Lake Kyoga

Aidenal SOSA v Kabowa FC

Kisenyi FC V KJT FC

This is to classify positional ranking 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th

The above games shall be played on Saturday 12th and 19th respectively and at a later date the Champion of the 2020/2021 Futsal Super league season shall be crowned.
