After qualifying for the semifinal in this year’s Futsal Super League last week on game week 5, Mengo Futsal Team today hosted Big Talent who needed a win to qualify for the semis. In this year’s Futsal Competition, the Mengo Club was still unbeaten but the hungry Big Talent broke their unbeaten run with a 7-4 scoreline on matchday 6.
Ronald Kaye of Big Talent scored 5 goals for his team to set precedence for the opposition team and consequently claimed a semi-final berth.
Ronald Kaye dominated the headlines for the right reasons during Big Talent’s 7-4 victory in the 2021 Futsal Super League (Albert Nile group) at Old Kampala Sports Arena on Saturday, 5th June.
With the regular season coming to a close, the Big Talent team needed a win to progress to the next stage, thanks to Kaye individual brilliance, he netted five and assisted by team captain Faizal Wabyoona and Farouk Tumwesigye who both scored a goal each in the match to complete the rout and help their team win the Mengo club who came into the match already qualified to the semis but needed to protect their unbeaten run ever since this season started.
For Mengo Club, Saidi Mayanja scored a hat trick and Abdallah Maawiyah got one more to give their side the 4 consolation goals in the game. This was Big Talent’s third win of the season which placed them on 11 points, two points from leaders Mengo.
Mengo Club after conceding this loss will now look towards winning the semifinal when they play Park in the semi-finals on 26th June 2021. Whereas today’s big winners Talent Futsal Club will take on debutants Synergy in the semi-final as they both fight for a place in the final.
