These three African nations have secured their spots in the tournament, with Nigeria being a seasoned contender, Zambia making a strong comeback, and Kenya appearing for the first time in the finals.


Nigeria’s participation in the U-17 Women’s World Cup is nothing new, as the Flamingos have featured prominently in six of the seven previous editions of the tournament. Their journey to securing a spot in the upcoming event involved a convincing victory over Liberia, with a 6-1 aggregate win. The West African powerhouse displayed their prowess by clinching a 4-1 victory in the first leg before sealing the deal with a 2-0 win in Abuja.


Zambia, on the other hand, will be looking to make a statement as they return to the global stage after a decade-long absence. The Copper Princesses displayed resilience and skill in securing their place, overcoming tough competition, including a strong Moroccan team. Despite a goalless draw in Morocco, Zambia managed a 3-1 aggregate victory to book their ticket to the World Cup.

The biggest surprise of the trio comes from Kenya, who will be making their debut appearance in the U-17 Women’s World Cup. The Harambee Starlets made history by qualifying for the tournament for the first time, defeating Burundi with a resounding 2-0 victory in Nairobi and sealing a 5-0 aggregate win.

These three African representatives will join a diverse lineup of teams from around the world at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
