The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recently called for bids to host the upcoming U17 and U20 African Nations Cups, in addition to the prestigious 2025 CAF Awards. This move follows the announcement of the dates for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

With these important competitions set to take place in the coming years, CAF is in search of suitable host countries that can provide the necessary infrastructure and facilities to ensure the success of these events.

The last edition of the CAF Awards and Women’s Champions League was successfully hosted by Morocco, showcasing the country’s ability to organize high-profile football events.

Now, as CAF opens the bidding process for the U17 and U20 African Nations Cups, as well as the 2025 CAF Awards, countries across the continent have the opportunity to showcase their capabilities as potential hosts.

Review and evaluation of Bids

The proposals for hosting these events are set to be reviewed and evaluated by the 46th CAF Ordinary General Assembly, scheduled to take place in Kinshasa, DR Congo, on Thursday, October 10, 2024. This assembly will play a crucial role in selecting the hosts for the U17 and U20 African Nations Cups, as well as the 2025 CAF Awards, setting the stage for future football tournaments on the African continent.

CAF confirms 2025 AFCON in Morocco

Following much consideration and discussion, the Confederation of African Football CAF has determined the official beginning date for the next African Cup of Nations.

Since FIFA announced the timing of the Club World Cup in 2025, there have been heated arguments among game fans and stakeholders.

The continent’s top football governing body held a virtual meeting on Friday and set the tournament date.

President Patrice Motsepe declared that the tournament would take place from December 21 2025 to January 18, 2026.

A statement made available on CAF website partly reads:

“The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) Executive Committee (“EXCO”) today announced the dates of Africa’s most popular and competitive football competition, the CAF TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (“AFCON”) which will take place in Morocco.

In addition, Egypt recently hosted the last U20 African Cup of Nations, where Senegal emerged as the victorious nation. The successful hosting of these tournaments not only showcases the passion for football in Africa but also highlights the potential for growth and development within the continent’s football ecosystem.
