APR FC, the reigning champions of the 2023/24 Primus National League in Rwanda, have made a significant coaching change by naming Darko Novic as their new head coach.

Novic, a Serbian tactician with a wealth of experience in football management, takes over from Thierry Froger, the Frenchman who led the team to the league title but saw his contract not renewed by the club.

The decision to part ways with Froger, despite his success in bringing the national league title to APR FC, reflects the club’s ambition to strive for further progress and development under new leadership. Darko Novic, aged 52, brings a fresh perspective and approach to the team as he looks to build on the foundations laid by his predecessor.

Tactician’s three years working contract

Novic’s appointment was officially confirmed when he signed a three-year contract with APR FC. The unveiling ceremony took place on Friday, June 21, marking the beginning of a new era for the club as they prepare for the upcoming season and the challenges that lie ahead.

His most recent club was Saudi Arabian second tier outfit Al Burkiyah. He left the club on February 8, 2024. “APR FC extends a warm welcome to our new coach Darko Novic. Novic, a UEFA pro license holder is not new to African football as he has also previously coached teams including US Monastir of Tunisia and Algerian club ES Setif.

As APR FC aims to defend their league title and possibly make a mark in continental competitions, Novic’s leadership will be crucial in shaping the team’s performance and achieving their objectives.
