Kakande’s Stellar Season
SC Villa’s forward Patrick Jonah Kakande was the star of the Pilsner Uganda Premier League (SUPL) awards ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala. Kakande’s impressive performance throughout the season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists, played a crucial role in SC Villa’s record-extending 17th league title. His efforts did not go unnoticed as he walked away with three major accolades: Pilsner Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, and Players’ Player of the Season. Additionally, Kakande earned a spot in the Best Eleven of the 2023/24 season.
A Night of Recognition
The awards night was a testament to the outstanding talent displayed throughout the season. SC Villa’s head coach, Dusan Stojanovic, was honored as Coach of the Season for guiding his team to victory. Another SC Villa standout, Ronald Ssekiganda, received the Midfielder of the Season award, highlighting the team’s dominance in the league.
Yunus Sentamu’s spectacular goal against Wakiso Giants at Kitende was deservedly named Goal of the Season. Kitara FC’s Denis Omedi, who netted 15 goals, was recognized as the Coaches’ Player of the Season. Kitara FC also saw their goalkeeper, Chrispus Kusiima, awarded Goalkeeper of the Season, with Thomas Ikarah being acknowledged for the most clean sheets (15) while playing for BUL FC.
Fair Play and Team Spirit
Vipers SC earned the Fair Play Team of the Season award, a reflection of their disciplined play throughout the league, finishing with only 33 yellow cards and one red card. This recognition emphasizes the importance of sportsmanship and fair play in the game.
