Azam FC has officially commenced their preparations for the upcoming 2024/2025 season with the start of pre-season training at their home ground, the Azam Complex at Chamazi. The training session not only marked the beginning of their journey towards the new season but also served as an introduction to the club’s new signings, underlining a fresh start for the team.

Newbies welcomed at Azam FC

Among the notable new acquisitions welcomed to the squad are Jhonier Blanco, Franck Tiesse, Adam Adam, and Nassor Sadun. The arrival of these players signals the club’s ambitions to strengthen their roster and address areas that need improvement as they gear up for the challenges that lie ahead in the upcoming campaign.

Azam FC parts ways with quite a number of players

In a significant roster reshuffle, Azam also bid farewell to several players who will not be part of the squad for the upcoming season. Departing players include Ayoub Lyanga, Daniel Amoah, Edward Manyama, Malickou Ndoye, and Issa Ndala. Additionally, Prince Dube, who terminated his contract earlier in March 2024, has also officially left the club. While there are speculations about Dube potentially joining Young Africans, no official confirmation has been released as of now.

However, amidst the departures, Azam FC has secured the services of goalkeeper Mohamed Mustafa on a permanent basis from Sudanese club El Merreikh. Initially brought in on a loan agreement, Mustafa’s impressive performances have convinced the club to make his stay permanent. The goalkeeper will now continue with Azam until 2026, providing stability and experience in the crucial goalkeeping position.

The 2023/2024 season saw Azam FC clinch a commendable second-place finish in the Premier League standings, narrowly edging out rivals Simba on goal difference. Their pivotal 2-0 victory against Geita Gold on the final day of the season at the Nyankumbu ground secured their position in the league. This achievement has earned them the opportunity to represent Mainland Tanzania in the prestigious CAF Champions League alongside league champions Young Africans in the upcoming season.

New season commences

As Azam FC begins their pre-season training with a blend of fresh faces and seasoned talents, anticipation builds for the club’s performance in the upcoming 2024/2025 season, as they aim to build on their successes and strive for even greater achievements on both domestic and continental fronts.
