Former LCC FC head coach, Ronald Okello, is set to embark on an exciting journey to South Africa to attend a UEFA coaching course. The renowned tactician will be offered a Scottish FA Level C license by One10Sports, complete with a structured program including Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and the coveted C Level license.

During his 1 month and 20 days stay in South Africa, Okello will have the opportunity to visit three iconic football clubs: Super Sport United, Cape Town City FC, and Orlando Pirates FC. At each club, Okello will engage in a range of activities such as basic sports coaching, basic education in sports, and basic fitness training through physical education classes.

Ronald Okello is a former Boroboro Holy Tigers FC midfielder who excelled mostly operating from the flanks and occasionally in the middle of the pitch. His coaching journey started as an assistant coach at Sporting United FC from 2008 to 2014. He then went on to serve as the assistant coach of Lira Town College from 2016 to 2017.

However, Okello is best known for his role as the pioneer head coach of Lira City Council FC, where he spent two and a half successful seasons from 2020 to 2024 before resigning. One of his standout achievements was leading LCC FC to victory in the prestigious Lira City Holiday Expo tournament in 2022, where they emerged undefeated, clinching the trophy with a 1-0 victory over Royal City FC at UTC Lira playground and he emerged the Best Coach of the Tournament.

Under Okello’s leadership, LCC FC also engaged in a high-profile friendly match against KCCA FC, a game they narrowly lost 1-0 with Mohamed Shaban scoring the decisive goal. Despite this setback, Okello’s team showcased exceptional performance during the 2022/23 season, remaining unbeaten in the Rhino group of the Northern Regional League, the country’s 3rd division, only to suffer a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in the playoffs against Young Elephant FC.

Currently, Okello serves as the head coach of Mentor Secondary School and has achieved success as the FUFA Drum 4th edition winner with Lango Province, where he previously worked as an assistant coach. He has been actively involved in all editions of the FUFA Drum tournament, starting from the inaugural edition to the latest 4th edition, where Lango Province emerged triumphant after defeating Busoga Province 2-1 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Ronald Okello’s dedication to coaching and his impressive track record make him a valuable asset to the football community, and his upcoming UEFA coaching course in South Africa is a testament to his commitment to professional development and excellence in the field of football coaching.
