After conceding three goals yesterday at the hands of the Ankole Lions, Kyetume FC head coach Mr. Jackson Mayanja aka Mia Mia opted to abandon the sinking ship. The Slaughters are up to neck in their battle against relegation this season. Yesterday’s defeat was a huge stumbling block to their endeavors with only three games remaining until the end of the 2021 season.

In an interview with an online sports website, this is what the man had to say about his resignation, “I have decided to quit my role as the head coach at Kyetume Football Club due to various reasons such as failure by the club to pay both my salary and for the players.” The man continued by saying that he can no longer continue working under such circumstances and only wish them the best of luck in their final league games. He also added that the club’s campaign was halted at the beginning of the season and took the opportunity to thank the players for working hard to salvage the season.

Mayanja was very instrumental in securing Kyetume FC’s promotion to the Uganda Premier League, but was later promoted to the position of technical director at the club. He was a director during the time when Charles Livingstone Mbabazi was the coach who left the club earlier this season and was replaced by Alex Isabirye who also quit. This is when Mayanja returned as head coach to try and save the team he brought to the premiership.

He couldn’t have picked a worse time to resign from his position, as the Slaughters are currently hanging by a thread with 23 points in the 14th position . Jimmy Kintu takes over in the interim
