Jinja City successfully holds first Red-ball Test cricket

As times go on, innovations are being picked by players who played and enjoyed the game of cricket at international level with Charles Waiswa being one of them to spearhead this first Redball test match.

The first Red-ball cricket test which kicked off at Jinja SS cricket oval on Monday 19th December 2022 climaxed on 22nd December 2022 at the same venue as players donned whites to showcase their talents, hitting and chasing the ball throughout the whole day.

Day one of the test cricket was hit by heavy rains that didn’t allow the proceedings to go on, but there was plenty to play for on day two as the sun was all shining bright.

The test was played between Team Itanda and Team Busowoko but mainly constituted young crikecting talent in the region of Busoga.

And this is how players and teams performed during the first four day Red-ball match.

Team Busowoko 195 all out in 83.5overs

Team Itanda won the toss and chose to field first.

Batting for Team Busowoko.

Eddy Agaba 61 runs off 133 balls

Cymprus Igulu 49 runs off 87 balls

Aaron kusasira 25 runs off 75 balls

Hassan Bagaga 21 runs off 95 balls 

Bowling for Team Itanda

Christopher Kidega, 8 overs 3 wickets for 8 runs 

Marvin Kitamirike, 18 overs 3 wickets for 28 runs..

Day 3-21/12/2022

Team Itanda 215/10 in 86.2 Overs getting a lead of 20 runs.

Batting for Team Itanda 

Mulongo Paul 58 runs off 175 and Ajuna Robert 51 runs off 101.

Bowling for Team Busowoko

Richard Sohera 48/2 in 21 0vers, Eddy Agaba 39/1 in 15.2 Overs, Wabwire David 32/3 in 12 Overs.

Day 4-22/12/2022.

Leading by 131/6 in 67.3overs Declared.

Batting for Team Busowoko

Eddy Agaba 59 runs off 86 balls, Hassan Bagaga 20 runs off 115 balls, Richard Sohera 34 runs off 126.

Bowling for Team Itanda

Steven Wabwose 42/1 in 25.3 Overs, Marvin Kitamirike 19/0 in 12 Overs.

Team Itanda won the first test by 5 wickets..

132/5 in 21overs.

Batting for Team Itanda.

Steven Wabwose 67* off 48 balls, Ajuna Robert 38 runs off 33 balls.

Team Itanda are leading the series 1-0 out of a series of 3 four day games to be played.

Both teams will take a short break due to Christmas and return to action with the remaining two four day games on Monday 26th December 2022 at the same venue.
