UCU Netball Club 46-46 Africa Renewal University NC
Police Netball Club 47-56 Makindye Weyonje Netball Club
Prisons Netball Club 45-48 KCCA Netball Club
On Saturday at Kamwokya TLC, KCCA NC upset Prisons NC in their pursuit of a first-ever league trophy.
They extended their advantage at the top to 20 points.
The game got off to a fast start with the table leaders taking an early lead of five goals, but the prisoner wardens rallied to tie the score at ten in the first quarter after putting up a valiant battle.
After the first quarter, the tide turned in favor of the prison wardens, who took the lead in the second and third quarters before inform Shadiah Nassanga took control and led the Kasasiro girls to a comeback in the closing moments of the fourth quarter.
As both teams entered the game unblemished since the season’s beginning, Shadiah blasted an impressive 32 goals in a hard-fought victory.
Hanisha Muhammad’s entrance in the third quarter also helped to the KCCA backline as the tenacious defender attempted to neutralize the threat posed by the prisones’ offensive assault.
With a victory, KCCA will have gone 22 games without a loss since the second part of last season, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games this year and 22 games overall.
Police Netball Club is currently the only obstacle standing between KCCA and a perfect first round.
All four title contenders—NIC, Weyonje, Prisons, and UCU—have been defeated by KCCA.
With 20 points, KCCA is in first place, followed by Prisons (18), and NIC (16).
Other outcomes included a walkover for UPDF due to Mutelx Life Sport’s absence, a 46-all tie between UCU and Africa Renewal University, the first of the season, and a 56-47 victory for Weyonje over Police.
The first round will conclude on Wednesday at Kamwokya.
