Kenya 130/8 in 20 overs

Nepal 133/5 in 19.2 overs

Nepal won by 5 wickets

Kenya lost to Nepal on the first day of the Nepal tour to Kenya in a game that almost saw them hold nerves.

Kenya came to this series after having a great performance in the recently concluded ICC Challenge League B tournament that was held in Jersey where they managed to pick four wins out of five.

Nepal won the toss and elected to field first against Kenya, a decision that saw them perfectly chase down the required score with four balls to spare.

Alex Obanda (6 runs off 10 balls) and Collins Obuya (12 runs off 11 balls) had a slow start to the Kenya innings as the pair batted for two overs before Irfan Karim scoring his 33 runs off 44 balls but lacked a strong batting partner to keep him going.

Nelson Odhiambo and Lucas Oluoch later gave a lively score that saw them register 19 runs off 21 balls and 31 runs off 13 balls respectively to help Kenya post 130/8 in 20 overs.

In the chase, Nepal started on a back foot losing Pawan Sarraf in the first over but his followers did nothing but to ensure the team registers its win of the series.

Nepal continued to form solid partnerships on the crease with Aasif Sheikh (19 runs off 27 balls) and Gyanendra Malla (23 runs off 30 balls) leading their way to victory.

Dipendra Sungh Airee and Aarif Sheikh’s 33 runs off 24 balls and 24 runs off 15 balls respectively saw Nepal chase down the required score with four balls to spare, winning by 5 wickets.

Both teams will be back  in play today, 26/08/2022 at 1PM EAT with Kenya looking at leveling the series.
