Today was the day when former Wakiso Giants coach, Kefa Kisala returned to the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in a different uniform and a different employer in UPDF FC after he was sacked by Wakiso Giants. But things didn’t go as he would have expected as UPDF Manager.
Kisala left the club in December 2019 after being in charge of 15 league games for the club and was replaced by Livingstone Mbabazi who also suffered the same fate as him and now Douglas Bamweyana who is in charge of the Purple Sharks as Manager.
The first league meeting between these two sides ended in a goalless draw in Bombo and today was a different matter altogether as they found Wakiso Giants on a plot to move 7 points clear of the relegation Zone.
Joshua Lubwama scored a 6th minute` Penalty that was gifted to them by clumsy defending at the UPDF defence and gave his side a 1-0 lead and the goal opened way to 3 more goals from Ivan Bogere in the 19th minutes, Frank Ssebufu in the 42nd minutes and a second one from Ivan Bogere to complete his brace before going into halftime break. The first period ended 4-0 in favor of the Wakiso Giants. The second half started still with Wakiso Giants looking a more composed side than the visitors in all areas. But the Saints looking to respond to the four goals they conceded in the first period of the game, opened up even more, exposing them to the dangerous counter attacking impetus of Wakiso Giants, who utilized this route to create another for Viane Sekajugo in the 70th minute to make it 5-0 for his side. Then just a minute after Wakiso Giants had finished celebrating their 5th goal, Hussien Zzinda pulled one consolation goal for the UPDF to make it 5-1 at full time whistle. Today’s result moved Wakiso Giants to 26 points and 9th position above BUL FC who don’t play until tomorrow. Consequently for the UPDF FC they still remain in the 7th position on 32 points for tonight.
