Kigezi Homeboyz Football Club have taken an upper hand in their round of 32 Uganda Cup fixture against Kitara Football Club. The Gorillas took a 2 : 4 away win in the first leg of the tie that was played at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds in Wakiso. Kitara FC now have the uphill task of getting past Kigezi Homeboyz FC on Sunday 2nd May, 2021 when the second leg of this fixture will be played at the Kabale Municipal Stadium.

Both legs of this fixture were rescheduled to their current dates after they were missed last month. The failure to have these games played was due to miscommunication on the venue of the games that saw either of the teams show up at different venues for the first leg that had initially been scheduled to take place on the 6th of April.

Kitara FC, also known as the pride of Bunyoro came into the rescheduled game with a a good vibe having won 4 : 2 against Kyetume FC in the UPL 3 days ago to record just their second win of the season so far. However, this warm feeling did not stop the visitors from finding the back of the net for the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute through Niwamanya Dickison.

The first half ended 0 : 1 in favor of the visiting Kigezi Homeboyz FC.

They even started the second half stronger with Niwamanya Dickison again firing the Gorillas into a double lead with a goal in the 49th minute. He increased his tally again in the 77th minute to notch a hattrick before Tabule Rogers scored a late goal in the 89th minute to make it 4 goals for the Kigezi Homeboyz FC.

Edison Agondeze and Zakayo Kizito managed to pull back 2 goals for the Pride of Bunyoro to keep their hopes in the second leg alive.

The second leg will be played on Sunday 2nd May 2021 at 3:30pm. The Hoima based Kitara FC will have to travel to Kabale for the game that will be played at Kabale Municipal Stadium.

Kigezi Homeboyz FC will hope the home advantage will help them hold onto the first leg advantage to kick Kitara FC out and qualify to the round of 16. Whatever happens, the winner of this fixture is set to pay a visit to BUL FC in Jinja in the first leg of the Uganda Cup round of 16 fixture to be played on 5th May.
