Kitara Regional League: Bujumbura United seek to extend lead at the top

Fixture: Bujumbura United Vs Kirasa United.

Bujumbura United host Kirasa United in the bid to extend lead at the summit. The two face-off at Kibanjwa primary school play ground on Sunday 8th of January 2023.

Bujumbura United is the only unbeaten team in the Kitara region League group after five games. They have won four and drawn one.

The draw was 1-1 away to Dove FC on matchday five, Opio David scored for the Hoima City side taking his goal tally to five.

Their game at home ended 3-0 where they beat Bugoigo Leopards, Opio David and Kambale Adrine scored one each while Abigaba Godfrey bagged a brace.

The Kibanjwa Lions are joint table leaders with Dove FC all at thirteen points. A difference of two goals separates the two more so Dove FC has played one game more than Bujumbura United.

A win today will move them to sixteen points, three above second placed Dove FC who return to action next weekend.

Kambale Adrine, Opio Godfrey and Abigaba Godfrey have been firing upfront this season for the home side and will be looked at to this fixture.

Kirasa United have won two, drawn two and lost two from the six they have played, scored five goals letting in seven.

Heading to this fixture Kirasa United were held to a 1-1 draw by Bugoigo Leopards FC at their home base Nyakatoke play ground in Masindi.

The last time Kirasa United played away from home was against Kiryandongo United which they lost 2-1.

Coach Akenda Ali will bank on Opio Aziz, Fahad Mansur, Isoke Safian and Tembeya Godfrey for goals in this tie.

Last season, Bujumbura United were 2-1 winners when the two teams met at Kibanjwa primary school play ground.
