While at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, Power faced the KIU Titans in Game one as the National Basketball League playoffs tipped off on Friday, the 26th of August 2022.
It was a great evening for the KIU Titans as they came over Power 68-59 to take game one of the Basketball playoffs.
In these quarterfinals, the best three teams with the first team to win two games will advance to the finals.
At the game start, KIU’s Henry first scored 3 points as it was immediately responded to by Power’s Isaac Afidra with a3 points as well.
A few minutes later, Kenyan Fidel Okoth Isiah Mabeny and Joseph Chuma welcomed Power to the court as they bucketed 3 goal points each.
KIU’s Stanley showcased great defensive tactics and emerged victorious over Power.
The first quarter ended 16-13 as the game was very tight between the two teams.
With the substitution of Elvis Ssentongo for Nasser Guddi in the second quarter, Power came back into the game as they scored 12 goals to make it 25-24 at the expense of the Titans.
However, in the third quarter, the KIU Titans returned with their amazing playing tactics as they ended the 48-38 in favor of the Titans.
KIU Titans’ Isaiah Mabeny Ater, the man of the game finished with 19 points followed by Okoth Henry with 15 points, and Fidel Okoth scored 11 points.
The losing Power on the other hand had the best player Innocent Ochera with 12 points as the highest, Soro Geoffrey as they struggled to make a 3 points score.
Meanwhile, Power’s Coach Bernis Ankunda didn’t show up while Francis Kasinde couldn’t take part because of an injury.
The game two winners between KIU Titans and Power will advance to the semi-finals
