The Masindi based Lady Doves FC fought hard to win against the Kawempe based Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC despite losing their top markswoman and tournament topscorer Fazila Ikwaput to injury that she sustained early on in the game.
Fazil Ikwaput’s injury forced Lady Doves FC to make an early substitution and Joweria Nagadya was brought on for the injured attacker in the 31st minute.
Lady Doves had a few chances in the first half like the Fazila and Nankya shots which went wide before Reticia Nabbosa’s last minute strike that concluded the half with Lady Doves FC leading by a goal to nil.
In the opening minute of the second half Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC nearly got an equalizer when Hadijja Nandago dribbled passed the entire Lady Doves defence but her feeble effort was easily collected by goal keeper Daizy Nakaziro.
Lady Doves FC kept holding onto the game until the final whistle and Reticia Nabbosa’s strike at the stroke of halftime was the difference for the day.
