With just hours to the restart of the National Rally Championship calendar, the Bwera Bistro SMC challenge rally is left for Jas Mangat to lose following the last-minute withdrawal of favorite Ponsiano Lwakataka. Others who withdrew include; Adam Rauf, Kepher Walubi and Godfrey Lubega.
The cause of the withdrawal was a result of mechanical hiccups of their rally machines. This 3rd round event will be continuation of the 2020 National Rally Championship series and will be the first competitive event since the government banned sports events early last year due to COVID 19.
A threat to Mangat’s crown will be Rajiv Ruparelia, Duncan Mubiru, Hassan Alwi and Omar Mayanja who will be seeking to improve on their championship chances. Mark Lubega, son to former national rally champion Charlie Lubega and co driver Unissan Bakunda will be the probable wonder boys of the one day event.
No fan will be allowed at the event due to Covid 19 SOPs for the event which will cover 179km equally divided into 6 competitive stages. Only a limited number of officials will access the rally according to FIA guidelines.
