Jackson Mayanja has resigned from the position of head coach at Kyetume Football club. Jackson “Mia Mia” Mayanja has reportedly thrown in the towel at the Uganda Premier League relegation-threatened side Kyetume Football Club.
Mayanja was appointed as head coach of Kyetume FC on 05th of April 2021 replacing Isabirye. Mayanja first served the team as the head coach in the FUFA Big League side with Allan Kabonge, before being promoted to work as the club’s technical director. He was appointed to help the team perform well.
Mayanja leaves the Slaughters in the wake of a disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Mbarara City yesterday evening at Nakisunga Ssaza playground leaving the club in the drop zone with three games to wind up the season.
“I have decided to quit my role as the head coach due to various reasons such as failure by the club to pay both my salary and for the players. I can no longer continue working under such circumstances and only wish them the best of luck in their final league games,” Mayanja told Swift Sports.
He took over the dugout at the Mukono based side midway through this 2020/2021 campaign replacing Alex Isabirye Musongola (now at BUL FC).
Since joining the club at the beginning of April, Mayanja managed eleven games registering three wins, six defeats and two draws. He has garnered 11 points during the short 2-month spell at the club in this capacity.
In the meantime, Jimmy Kintu will temporarily take charge of the club’s remaining three games on an interim basis to ensure that they fight for survival.
Kyetume currently sits in the 14th position on 23 points. They will play against Bright Stars (away), Onduparaka (home) and Vipers Sports Club (away) in their remaining fixtures.
