And they did so with style and grace!
What better venue than the Mbale Rugby Grounds that was on Saturday even more colorful with the different teams showing up clad in their beautiful kits ready to play?
And play they did. Only that the Mbale Eagles did most of the playing on the others. The were victorious in all their three encounters against the opposing outfits. They saw off Bumangeni by a 44 : 00 score line in the first game of the day. They went on to prevail against Nyondo with a 34 : 00 performance and finally recorded a 48 : 00 win against Bugema in their last game of the day.
Mbale Eagles did not concede a try the entire day.
Nyondo collected the scrape on the day, winning against Bugema and Bumangeni.
The game that determined who would occupy the last position on the log at the end of the first day seemed to have happened earlier on in the day when Bumangeni beat Bugema by 48 : 00.
Mbale Eagles should not celebrate as yet as the plan is to have another weekend day of rugby that will see these teams meet again to check themselves. Their solid performance however is something they will hope to capitalize on to spur them to greater shows in the next three weekends of rugby. The group leader at the end of four weekend days of rugby is set to represent the Eastern region at the national finals for the title of “champion of women’s rugby, 2021”
