Following the disciplinary proceedings opened up against Mbale Heroes, the Federation of Uganda football Association announced a one match ban in the Uganda Cup with immediate effect on the home fans after the club violated Covid-19 standard operating procedures by allowing the fans in the stadium in their spot kick shootout win against Gaddafi FC on the 11th April 2021.
Mbale Heroes head into this game needing a 1-0 win to progress to the next round on goal difference after losing the first leg 2-1 in Lugogo
The verdict read “Sanction Mbale Heroes FC for violation of FUFA COVID-19 regulations by allowing people without face masks in the stadium with a one match under closed stadium for the next Uganda cup home game”.
This is the second time the surgeons are facing disciplinary action after a similar sanction was imposed on Mbale Heroes towards the end of the first-round fixtures of the big league in April, a ban which still stands to their next FUFA big league home game.
A two-match ban from attending home big-league matches was imposed on the heroes’ fans and a fine to the tune of UGX 500,000 was charged on the team after they failed to control their fans to observe Covid-19 Sops in their 1-1 home draw against Arua hill where Veteran striker Ceaser Okhuti scored a late equalizer.
