After holding both Express FC and KCCA FC to draw in Mbarara in their two previous fixtures, Mbarara City hosted SC Villa, another of the UPL giants at Kakyeka in Mbarara. The home team started threatening Villa from the very beginning of the first half period, and in the 10th minute Jude Ssemugabi scored to put his side ahead, in what became the only goal of the first 45 minutes period of the game.

The second half then started with Mbarara city missing an early penalty in the 54th minutes and failing to extend their lead and after failing to take their advantage, SC villa responded with an equalizer in the 56th minute to level the game 1 : 1.

After the full 90 minutes of normal play, Henry Kitengeny scored a late goal to hand his side a 2 : 1 win in the fixture. Mbarara city has turned out to be the hardest away hunting ground for teams in the top six of the Uganda premier league. With this win, they moved to the 9th position on 25 points and only 5 points behind their opponent SC Villa who dropped to position 8th on 30 points.

Next on the menu for Mbarara city is an away outing to Uganda Revenue Authority FC who currently sit top of the Uganda premier league, and Vipers football Club will be paying a keen eye on the outcome of this match between these two sides.
