In yet another Good Friday fixture, coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi led Mbarara City FC to face off with his former employers, Wakiso Giants FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

The assistant Uganda Cranes coach who took charge of the Ankole Lions was  looking for his first away win as a manager.

The long awaited game didn’t start well for him as coach Charles Livingstones Mbabazi’s side conceded a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. This gave Wakiso Giant an opportunity to open up a 1 : 0 advantage. Which they did with Tom Masiko making no mistake from the penalty spot.

Henry Kitegenyi then leveled matters in the 41st minute to his side’s hopes for some points alive before the halftime whistle was blown.

Second half then started with too few moments to report about. They home team defended well to keep their visitor at bay. However, in the 85th minute, Solomon Okwalinga scored to give coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi’s side an upper hand in the game.

The visitors held on for the few remaining minutes to hand Mbarara City FC their first away win of the season.

This result moves the Ankole Lions clear of the relegation zone to 11th position with 17 points. Wakiso Giants who also needed a win here to stay clear of the relegation zone dropped to 13 position on only 16 points after 16 matches played this season.
