MYDA FC today hosted Bright Stars in round 18 of the Uganda Premier League, looking to pick up the maximum 3 points to boost their fight against relegation. But it was the men from the central who ticked all the right boxes in the King George IV Memorial Stadium (Tororo) instead.
Joseph Akandwanaho scored the only first half goal to give the visiting team an early lead within only two minutes after the game kickoff. Halftime then ended 1:0 in favor of the away team.
The second half then started with MYDA pressing on to restore their advantage in the game, but the high pressing was greeted by yet another goal for the away side, as Joseph Janjali scored in the 50th minute to make it 2:0 for Bright Stars.
MYDA had a chance to pull one back from a penalty spot in the 53rd minutes but they missed their opportunity. Bright Stars weren’t going to allow their opportunity to bag the whole 3 points go to waste as Samuel Sekamatte added to the 2 goals to seal their win in emphatic fashion . As if it couldn’t get any worse for the home team, Paul Musamali was given marching orders in the 78th minutes further dampening the home team’s hope of getting any goal.
MYDA failed to win three consecutive matches and they occupy the 2nd last position, whereas the Bright Stars moved to position 8th in the league.
