After the Covid-19 tests had all been done on Friday, the long awaited National Basketball league kicked off with all matches being played at KIU court. Fans were limited access to the court and those who were allowed had to follow all the Covid-19 SOPs.

In a tight back to back game between KIU titans and Betway powers, the titans needed supernatural powers from man of the match Henry Okoth to overcome Betway power in the lunch time Kickoff played under heated conditions. Power led the 1st quarter 20 – 16 though it was KIU’s  Faisal Aden who had an impressive start.

A great comeback from the Titans in the second quarter saw KIU Titans lead the first half 47 –  40. Things became worse for Betway power basketball club in the 3rd quarter as KIU titans stretched the lead to 70 – 56. 91 – 66 it ended in favour of KIU titans who over powered the powers in what was an energetic performance.

Both teams face Ndejje Angels in their next fixture with Power basketball club playing first tomorrow at UCU courts while KIU titans’ fixture on the 25th of April.

Meanwhile the season opener saw KCCA Panthers white wash Ndejje angels 70 – 56 while Nkumba Lady marines lost their season opener 50 – 69 to KIU Rangers in the ladies’ league.

The evening fixture saw a tight score as KCCA leopards defeated JKL Lady Dolphins 55 – 58.
