Uganda’s representatives at the ongoing African Volleyball club championship In Tunisia Nemo Stars have managed to finish 8th overall after their losing run continued with a 3-0 loss to GSU from Kenya.
This was the 3rd consecutive loss after the group stages and a 2nd loss to a Kenyan team within 48 hours.
Nemo Stars needed to win the fixture to finish 7th overall but a poor start enabled the Kenyans to win the 1st set 25-14. The dominant Kenyans continued to pile more pressure on the Ugandans in the 2nd set and, in the end, won 25-19.
The 3rd set was no different as the Kenyans maintained a similar score of 25:19 to win the tie and settle for seventh position ahead of Nemostars.
The battle for 5th place saw Kenya Ports Authority edge out Cameroun’s Port Douala 1-3 with the Kenyans needing a fourth set to seal victory.
It should be noted that the team went for this tournament with a budget deficit of 8000USD and well wishers like Lakhani fundraised for them.
